#FeatureFriday - Our New Packaging

- 10/05/2019 @ 15:56
For this week’s #FeatureFriday we wanted to give you an update on our pledge to remove all plastics from LDL packaging by the end of 2019. As our more eagle-eyed customers will have noticed, all LDL Components 3D packaging has fundamentally changed for the better. Now, we’re continuing that refinement with our smaller consignment packaging.

As part of our continuing initiative on sustainability, we’ve been working hard to develop eco-friendly packaging. This has been a massive undertaking entailing months of planning and refinement. Headed by our Operations Manager Simon, we’ve already managed to reduce our plastic use by some 60% but we aren’t stopping there!
Going Green
We’ve begun trialling our new bio-degradable ‘Green Packaging’. Working in partnership with Pregis Protective Packaging Solutions, we’ve installed a brand new Packmaster-Pro machine and managed to replace our plastic void-fill with innovative Easypack recycled paper on all small consignments.

Not only is this new packaging vastly better for the environment, but it’s better for you too. Quality and customer service means everything to us, it’s the bedrock upon which we base all our decisions. With that in mind, we’re proud to say that EasyPack brings an added layer of protection and security to every product we ship.

Stronger and more robust, our new packaging promises to protect each and every product far better than its plastic counterpart. Not only does this mean less chance of breakages in your deliveries, but it means you can have renewed confidence in the service we provide.

What is EasyPack?

  • 100% recycled
  • 100% recyclable
  • 100% biodegradable
  •  Free of chemicals or oil based products
  • Sourced from vetted sustainable sources
  • Uses up to 60% less energy and water to produce than Kraft paper
Following this trial period, we hope to expand EasyPack packaging to our entire 3D production line. Each small step we take paves the way for big progress, and that’s why we’re so driven to keep improving.

Time to Act

We live in an ecologically fragile world and sustainability has never been more important. We all work in a waste intensive industry and the by-products of our collective success is often an increasing amount of plastics and non-recyclable waste. It’s time for that to change.

Parliament have just declared a “Climate Change Emergency” due to the deteriorating state of our environment. Whilst these fresh measures are welcome words, we feel morally obligated to renew our commitments to reducing our environmental impact too.

There’s a need for change, in this industry and beyond, and we hope our humble efforts and your continued support will inspire others to follow suit. That’s why we pledged to remove all plastic from our packaging by the end of the year, that’s why we’ve disposed of plastic bottles throughout the business, that’s why we’ve built a new bike shelter on-site and encourage the team to cycle in; because little changes add up to make a big difference!

The Future is Bright

Last year saw a record-breaking £330,000 of investment being put into the business and our assembly line, but everything we do is with the long-term in mind. That’s why we’re only investing in environmentally friendly measures.

Trust in us to safeguard your future, for a better world. Together we can drive plastic out of this business. The future of the Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom industry is bright and we hope you’ll be with us to experience it every step of the way!
